UAE trashed Qatar to lift the title of ICC World Twenty20 Asia Region Qualifier A. Magnificent batting from Ghulam Shabber made it more easier for Emirates to chase the tiny target presented by Qatar.
Winning the toss, Qatar decided to bat first and tried to put up big total on board in final clash. But Qatar’s opener didn’t gave justice to their captain’s decision as Faisal Javid Khan (00) got out on first delivery of the inning. His deputy, Inam-Ul-haq (01) also couldn’t stayed there for long as he got dismissed in first one of second over. After then, Kamran Khan (29), Tamoor Sajjad (36) and Munaweera (31) helped Qatar to propel their total to 115 runs before being bundle-out during 19th over. Mohammad Naveed and Zahoor Khan claimd maximum 3-3 wickets each for UAE. Amir Hayat, Rohan Mustafa and Imran Haider also chipped in with a wicket each.
In response, UAE’s opener gave flying start with 55 runs stand, consuming just 35 balls. After then Skipper joined Shabber and returned after finishing the job for his nation. Player of the match, Shabber smashed maximum 63 runs from 46 runs with 8 fours and a six. Mustafa scored run-of-ball 30 runs. Shabber and Mustafa’s unbeaten inning helped UAE to register 9 wickets victory with 25 balls to spare. Tamoor Sajjad picked up only a wicket for Qatar.
As ICC World Twenty20 Asia Region Qualifier A has been concluded. We get the 3 teams for main draw of Asia’s Qualifier. Champion UAE, Qatar and Kuwait confirmed their spot. 3 teams from ICC World Twenty20 Asia Region Qualifier B will join them.
